About the Musicians

Jane Berkner was described by Flute Talk Magazine as “a versatile performer…(and) outstanding musician”.  She was named Outstanding Artist in Music in the 2019 Akron Arts Alive Awards, and has played in the Akron, Ashland, Canton and Youngstown Symphonies, the Ohio Ballet Orchestra, the Botzum Summer Festival Orchestra, and for touring shows at EJ Thomas Hall in Akron, Playhouse Square in Cleveland, and Blossom Center’s Porthouse Theater. As a chamber musician, she has performed with the O’Neil Chamber Players, Garth Newel Chamber Players and the Chamber Music Society of Ohio. Along with Stephen Aron, the AronBerkner Duo presented concerts across the US and Europe. Their CD, Tropicale was released on the Clear Note label in 2012, and their performances in Italy led to the formation of a summer music festival in Assisi. She has performed with Singers Companye at the National Gallery in Washington, DC, and for National Flute Association conventions in Atlanta, Washington DC, Pittsburgh, Charlotte, Chicago, Orlando, and New Orleans. She is currently the Director of a summer Flute Choir Camp for adults at the Interlochen Center for the Arts.  As founder of Urban Troubadour, Cleveland Classical said “Berkner’s flute sounded — well, magical”, and “in the crowded field of efforts to “disrupt” the world of staid programming, Urban Troubadour’s multi-part evenings feel distinct and vital.”

Amy Glick performs extensively throughout Northeast Ohio as an orchestral player, chamber musician and soloist. Dan Hathaway (Cleveland Classical) noted her Akron Baroque performance of Telemann’s Concerto in E minor (with duo colleague Linda Johnston), calling out her “expertly traded phrases in the fast movements and expressive lyricism [in] the Adagio.” A member of the Akron Symphony Orchestra, where she has performed as concertmaster and principal, she is also a charter member and concertmaster of the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival Orchestra in Harrisonburg, Virginia. She has appeared as soloist with Akron Symphony, Akron Baroque, the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival, Tuscarawas Philharmonic, Wooster Symphony and the Akron Lyric Opera Chamber Orchestra, and has presented chamber recitals in Ohio, New York, Louisiana, Virginia and West Virginia. A devoted teacher, Ms. Glick serves on the faculties of Kent State University’s Hugh A. Glauser School of Music, as well as Malone University, and has also taught at the Lucy Moses School for Music and Dance (NY, NY), the David Hochstein Memorial Music School (Rochester, NY), and the Brevard Music Center (Brevard, NC).

Julie Myers King, cellist, is a member of the BlueWater Chamber Orchestra, the Akron Symphony, the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, the Cleveland Pops Orchestra and the Athena String Quartet. She holds degrees in cello performance from Indiana University and Louisiana State University. She is an active freelancer in the Northeast Ohio area, and spent thirteen winters as the Assistant Principal Cellist of the Sarasota Opera Orchestra. In addition, she performs frequently at Playhouse Square. She resides in Cleveland Heights with her husband, Richard, their children Charlie and Amelia and miniature poodle, Ernie.
