QS Jazz / Qwik Silver: Songs of Societal Injustice

Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) and the Wadsworth Public Library continue Live at the Library with Don Goodman and QS Jazz on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at 2 pm at the Wadsworth Public Library, 132 Broad Street, Wadsworth, OH 44281.

QS Jazz/ Qwik Sil-ver has been performing throughout the NE Ohio region and beyond for over 15 years at a variety of music venues, festivals and institutions combining an eclectic mix of styles with a “creative jazz attitude”. This program will explore, through a range of musical styles, songs of societal injustice, specific events and war protest. There will be brief comments regarding each song’s history and context.

Originally from the New York Metro area, band leader Don Goodman (Guitar/Vocal) has been playing and teaching for over 40 years. He was an Adjunct Professor and Jazz Ensemble Director for Castleton and Green Mountain Colleges in Vermont, and has performed with The Spinners, The Crystals, The Shirelles and Branford Marsalis. He moved to Ohio 12 years ago and has been actively performing with three different groups regularly in a variety of venues. Influenced by Wes Montgomery, Kenny Burrell and others, Don’s style draws from a melodic blues style, as the quartet’s sound is reminiscent of the original Jimmy Smith organ trio, while also adding some contemporary flair.
