Jazz under the Stars: Pulse

Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) continues its popular summer Jazz under the Stars concert series with the jazz quartet, Pulse, on August 1, 2026 at 7:00 pm.
The Cleveland-based group, Pulse, features Anthony Fuoco on piano, Dustin May on drums, Aidan Plank on acoustic bass, and Brad Wagner on tenor and soprano saxophones. Established in early 2018, they blend elements of jazz, classical, popular, and world music.

About the Musicians
Brad Wagner (soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones; flute, alto flute, piccolo, Bb clarinet, and bass clarinet, composer, arranger) received a BM in Jazz Studies from the University of Cincinnati. He is a musician, composer, and arranger for Pulse, the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, Ernie Krivda and the Fat Tuesday Big Band, The Black Dog Octet, Third Law Composers Collective, and has been a member of groups including The Hendectet Jazz Collective, Sam Blakeslee Large Group, Moustache Yourself, Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, Eclipse, Marc Fields Sextet, and more. As a freelance musician, he has performed and recorded with many groups including the Cleveland Orchestra, Akron Symphony, Canton Symphony, Kentucky Symphony, Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Jazz Heritage Orchestra, as well as playing pit orchestras for Broadway shows, and backing various entertainers from the jazz, rock, and pop world.
Anthony Fuoco is a lecturer at Baldwin Wallace University where he teaches courses in piano, pedagogy and jazz. As a pianist, Fuoco frequently performs as a member of groups such as the Pulse Quartet (with Brad Wagner, Aidan Plank, and Dustin May), the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra and the Wedmedyk/Fuoco duo. He has collaborated with well-known artists such as Joe Lovano, Carmen Castaldi, Jamey Haddad and John Daversa. In 2019, his performance with Joe Lovano at the BopStop was recorded and featured on the NPR program Jazz Night in America. He also has extensive experience performing the classical piano duo repertoire with his wife, Christine Fuoco. Degrees earned are an M.M. in piano performance from the University of Illinois, and a B.M. in piano performance from SUNY Potsdam.
Dustin May earned his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Youngstown State University in 2012 and is currently an adjunct faculty member at Kent State University’s Hugh A. Glauser School of Music. At Kent State he specializes in teaching drum set and jazz vibraphone.
Aidan Plank serves as the bassist for the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra where he has collaborated with guest artists including Gerald Clayton, Joe Lovano, Maria Schneider, Michael Philip Mossman, Bobby Sanabria, Tierney Sutton, Regina Carter, Ken Peplowski, Bria Skonberg, and many others. His jazz compositions and arrangements are performed by the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra as well as the Third Law Collective, a composers collective in residency at The Bop Stop in Cleveland. He was featured on NPR’s “Jazz Night in America” radio show on their May 16, 2019 broadcast: “Cleveland’s Joe Lovano Comes Home” and he has performed at Carnegie Hall, Severance Hall, The Knitting Factory (NYC), Spectrum (NYC), Elastic Arts (Chicago), and Blossom Music Center. As an educator Plank served as an instructor at the Tri C Jazzfest Academy in Cleveland, OH from 2015 to 2021 and as the jazz bass instructor at Kent State University from 2016 to 2024. Aidan has served as an adjudicator at The Maple Rock Jazz Festival and The Lakeland Jazz Festival, as well as offering masterclasses at the Chicago School of the Arts and Bowling Green State University. Currently, he serves as the Assistant Teaching Professor of Jazz Bass at Bowling Green State University’s College of Musical Arts.
