Cynthia Cioffari and the BassonaRoos: An Evening of Holiday Favorites

Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) and the Canal Fulton Public Library present Cynthia Cioffari and the University of Akron BassonaRoos on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 in a lively performance of holiday favorites, including selections from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas and jazz-inspired arrangements.

About the Performers
Cynthia Cioffari teaches bassoon, coaches chamber music, and is a member of the Solaris Faculty Quintet at The University of Akron. She is also the Graduate Advisor in the School of Music. Since 1993, she has been the Contrabassoonist/Section Bassoonist with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and has also performed with the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, Toledo Symphony, ProMusica Chamber Orchestra, Cleveland CityMusic and others. Professor Cioffari holds a Master of Music in Woodwinds from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in performance from Bowling Green State University. She was a finalist in the International Double Reed Society’s Gillet Young Artist Competition and is listed in “Who’s Who in America”.
The University of Akron BassoonaRoo is comprised of both undergraduate and graduate students who love to play the bassoon! The ensemble regularly performs each semester on campus at such events as the annual School of Music Collage Concert, Hallowinds Concert and Woodwind Night. They have performed several times at the Ohio Music Education Association Conference, have been a featured guest at the New Horizons Band and Orchestra Concert held at the Akron Public Library and have also played at the Akron Art Museum. They most recently performed as part of the United Methodist Church of Uniontown Concert Series and often perform at Concordia at Sumner Assisted Living facility in Copley, Ohio.
