Cleveland International Film Festival: Yaniv

Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) joins forces with the Cleveland International Film Festival as a community partner with the film, Yaniv. Bernstein, a devoted high school teacher, is crushed to tell his students the head administrator has cut funding for the school musical. When he discovers an underground Hasidic gambling community, he sees his golden ticket to shaving the show. Recruiting his friend and fellow teacher (and gambling addict) Johan, they disguise themselves and infiltrate the game. As the two get immediately in over their heads, their lives are upended in ways both irreverent and tender. Yaniv is a madcap and absurd comedy that unpacks Jewish identity, male friendship, and public education, in one light-hearted package.

The film will be shown at the Upper Allen Theatre at Playhouse Square, 1501 Euclid Ave. Cleveland, OH at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10. It is also available for streaming access from April 14 through April 21. Tickets are available starting March 15 online at www.clevelandfilm.org or by phone 844-304-FILM or in person at the Film Festival Box Office, 2510 Market Ave. Cleveland, OH from 10 am to 6 pm.
