Annie Oakley Center at the Garst Museum in Greenville, OH, Bus Trip
Saturday, October 11, 2025, 7:30 am – 9:30 pm
Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) is off on another cultural bus trip you won’t want to miss! Join us for a trip to Greenville, OH where we will explore the birth place of Annie Oakley, visit a working mill and a museum, and end the day at a fabulous Greek restaurant in Columbus. Here’s the itinerary:
Hop on the bus at Buehler’s River Styx in Medina, OH, at 7:30 a.m. Start the morning with muffins and mimosas. Then sit back and enjoy the scenery as we make our way to Greenville, OH. Along the way on the bus, we will listen to an entertaining and educational theatrical impersonation by our friend, John Burke. He will be portraying the historical John Burke, the one who was the manager of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show.
Our first stop will be at Bear’s Mill, one of the few operating water-powered mills in Ohio today. A rare historic landmark, The Mill is located on the eastern outskirts of Greenville along a peaceful stretch of creek side woodlands. We will arrive on the day of their fall open house, and enjoy a tour of the mill, as well as live music and local vendors. From 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. we’ll stroll through the property soaking in all the colors, sounds, and smells of autumn in Ohio. You can purchase lunch items from the vendors: French market bean soup, corn bread, brats/hot dogs, apple cider, apple dumplings, pumpkin cookies, and more!
From there we drive 15 minutes across town to the Garst Museum where docents will lead us on a tour of The Annie Oakley Center, a wonderful place to learn more about this remarkable woman. See guns, medals, personal clothing, and gifts given to her by kings, queens, and Indian chiefs. Read about her career and see that this hero was not a wild west girl as many have portrayed her, but an inspirational role model who overcame childhood adversity with a rare talent that set her apart and enabled her to become a legend.
At 4:00 pm we’ll hop back on the bus for the return trip and enjoy the infamous ORMACO wine and cheese party on the way to dinner. We’ll stop in Columbus at the Happy Greek Restaurant where you will dip into a buffet filled with spanikopita, dolmades, grilled chicken, beef shawarma, pastisio, Greek salad, rice pilaf, and a vegetable medley. After dinner, you can relax on the return journey to Medina and enjoy more flowing wine, cheese, homemade cookies and chocolates. We will arrive back at Buehler’s River Styx around 9:30 p.m.
Space is limited to 50 people, so book early to avoid disappointment. ORMACO bus trips sell out quickly. For more information, call 419-853-6016.
