Don Goodman: The Music of Antonio Carlos Jobim

Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) and the Wadsworth Public Library continue Live at the Library with Don Goodman and his quartet, The Jazz Shepherds, on Sunday, August 8, 2027, at 2 pm at the Wadsworth Public Library, 132 Broad Street, Wadsworth, OH 44281.
Antonio Carlos Jobim, better known as “Tom Jobim” in his homeland of Brazil, was arguably one of the most important songwriters of the 20th century, rivaling Gershwin, Porter, and McCartney & Lennon for sheer consistency and diversity of output. While Jobim will forever be associated with the Bossa Nova style he helped create, his legacy cannot be contained in one genre. The jazz quartet will explore not only his most well known pieces, but a number of his more obscure pieces as well.

About the Musicians
Don Goodman- Guitar
Originally from the NY Metro area, Don has been playing and teaching for over 40 years. He was an Adjunct Professor and Jazz Ensemble Director for Castleton and Green Mountain Colleges in Vermont, and has performed with The Spinners, The Crystals, The Shirelles and Branford Marsalis. He moved to Ohio 14 years ago, and has been actively performing with 3 different groupsregularly in a variety of venues. Influenced by Wes Montgomery, Kenny Burrell and others, Don’s style draws from a melodic jazz-blues style.
Edgar Cora – Drums
A jazz, blues, rock, and Latin drummer who’s been actively playing with multiple high profile bands in Northeast Ohio for over 20 years. With rhythmic roots from his home island of Puerto Rico, Edgar brings unique creativity and tasty grooves to every show. He has performed at venues large and small and has a unique ability to paint a picture with his drums, rather than simply keep time.
Warren Henry- Bass
A Kent, Ohio native , Warren is a first call bassist for a multitude of bands and performers, including rock tribute groups, wedding bands and a variety of jazz and blues groups. He has taught for many years, ran sound for National groups, and is known as go-to utility musician for many styles. He has a gift for making other musicians sound good.
Marc Paige- Saxophone
Marc is a native Clevelander. As a dedicated clarinet and saxophone player, he has been performing with various local groups continuously since the late 60’s! He is currently a member of 8 different groups, including 3 swing big bands, 2 rock bands, a Sinatra tribute group, a jazz trio, and a classical clarinet ensemble.
