Hop on the bus at 8:15 am on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at Buehler’s River Styx in Medina, as ORMACO heads to the First Ladies Museum in Canton, Ohio. Start the trip with muffins and mimosas, then relax and enjoy the 60 minute ride.

Upon arrival, a docent will lead us in a guided tour of First Ladies Museum where we’ll meet the American icons who have changed the course of history, from Martha Washington tending to soldiers during the American Revolution through Canton’s own Ida Saxton McKinley, the only First Lady to publicly support the women’s suffrage movement. Then we’ll tour the beautifully preserved Victorian-era Saxton-McKinley House. Built in 1842, it is the last remaining home with direct ties to Ida and William McKinley in their hometown of Canton, Ohio.

Next we’ll head to the charming village of Zoar with its unique 19th-century heritage, quiet streets, lush landscapes, and historic architecture. We’ll start in the old schoolhouse, where we’ll enjoy a boxed lunch with a wrap sandwich, fresh fruit, chips, pasta salad, and a cookie. Then guides will take us on a walking tour of the village where we’ll experience life in the 1800s in the site of America’s most successful communal settlement. Founded in 1817 by German Separatists seeking religious freedom, Zoar remains a living village with a museum complex celebrating its German and Early American heritage.

The bus trip back incudes a wine and cheese party with chocolates, and we’ll arrive back at Buehler’s River Styx around 4:45 pm.

The First Lady Museum and Saxton-McKinley House are both historic buildings that contain stairs alongside an elevator system which is wheelchair accessible. Participants in the Zoar Village walking tour will need to be able to comfortably traverse a four block area that is mostly flat.
