Duo Colombiano: Latin Influences

Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) and the Wadsworth Public Library continue Live at the Library showcasing Duo Colombiano on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 2 pm at the Wadsworth Public Library, 132 Broad Street, Wadsworth, OH 44281.
Kurt Reed, guitar and David Londono, cello have roots in the South American country of Colombia, bringing the musical traditions of this heritage to their performances. They perform music from the New York City jazz clubs of the 40’s all the way to contemporary pop music, while highlighting the Latin influences.

About the Musicians

Kurt Reed
Kurt Reed is the Owner and Director of the Fairlawn and Hudson Schools of Music. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance from the University of Akron, and was a prize winner in the James Stroud All-Ohio Classical Guitar Competition. He regularly performs with five other musical projects: Verve Daddy, Lithium, Rusted Development, Favorite Mistake and Triple Threat. Kurt was recognized by the Akron Area Arts Alliance as the Outstanding Artist in Music at the Arts Alive! Awards in 2013 for his contributions to the community and to the local music scene.

 

 

David Londono
Colombian-born Ariel David Londono holds a bachelor’s degree in cello performance from the National Conservatory of the National University of Colombia, a master’s in chamber music from Kent State University, and a master’s in cello performance (with a certificate in conducting) from Ohio University. He performed with the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra’s Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, and was later an occasional member of the Colombian Symphony. He currently plays in the Ohio Valley Symphony. He has performed in numerous recitals as a chamber musician in Colombia and the U.S., most notably in the Garua Quintet which was devoted to the music of Piazzola, and he placed in chamber music competitions in Colombia. He also taught cello for Tocar y Luchar, a youth orchestra for under-served children based on the famed Venezuelan El Sistema.
