4-Day Trip to Nashville, with a stop in Louisville to tour Derby Downs
March 17-20, 2026
Depart March 17 at 7:45 am; Return March 20 around 7:00 pm
Join ORMACO (Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach) for a fun, four-day action-packed excursion to Nashville. Hop on the bus at Buehler’s River Styx at 7:45 am and start your day with muffins and mimosas as the luxury charter bus whisks us to Tennessee. We’ll stop for lunch and a visit to the Kentucky Derby Museum in Louisville, Kentucky, where we’ll take a tour of Churchill Downs Racetrack before getting back on the road and going on to Nashville. We’ll stay at a Hampton Hotel that is immediately adjacent to the popular Mall at Green Hills and the Bandywood Shopping District, with fifteen (15) restaurants to choose from for dinner on your own the first night.
We’ll start Day Two with breakfast at the hotel before taking the bus into downtown Nashville for a walking tour of Honky Tonk Highway, Ryman Auditorium, Printers Alley and other famous sites in Music City. We’ll stop at the food court at Fifth and Broadway, where everyone can choose their own spot for lunch before enjoying an immersive exhibit at the National Museum of African American Music. Then it’s off to a local distillery. You can choose to sample the bourbon or the moonshine before we all head to dinner at Monell’s, where you’ll feast on plates of Southern classics and comfort foods, piled high on serving plates and shared family-style. We’ll stop for an after dinner stroll at the park adjacent to Nashville’s Parthenon to enjoy this iconic building’s evening lighting after the sun sets.
Day Three we’ll depart after breakfast for a visit to The Hermitage, the grounds and estate of President Andrew Jackson. We’ll have a boxed lunch on the grounds before heading back downtown for the half mile walk across the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge and the best views of the city. We’ll end the walk at the chocolate shop of Nashville’s official candy, the Goo-Goo Cluster. After that, you can choose an afternoon rest period at the hotel or visit nearby Parnassus Books, Ann Patchett’s independent bookstore. Dinner will be downtown at Martin’s BBQ. A short stroll from the restaurant takes us to Schermerhorn Symphony Center for the world premiere performance of Dolly Parton’s Threads: My Songs in Symphony with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra.
Day Four we’ll leave Nashville and stop at Verona Vinyards in Verona, Kentucky for lunch and a quick tour of the vineyards before heading back to Ohio. Enjoy a wine and cheese party, homemade cookies and chocolates on the return journey. Arrive at Buehler’s River Styx around 7:00 pm.
