Music at the Arboretum: Steve Free, Grammy Nominated Folk/Americana Artist

Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) continues it summer concert series at the John Streeter Garden Amphitheater  with Grammy nominated folk/Americana artist Steve Free and his band. An internationally acclaimed award-winning singer/songwriter, Free draws his music from his Native American (Shawnee/Cherokee) and Appalachian roots.

In the event of rain, the concert will be held at Fisher Auditorium, 1680 Madison Avenue, Wooster, OH 44691. For more information call 419=853-6016.

About Steve Free

Grammy Nominated Folk/Americana Artist Steve Free has won numerous Music Industry Awards including 9 ASCAP Awards, a Platinum Record, a 2016 Grammy nomination and three Americana Music Award nominations. The Steve Free Band

Steve Free – vocals, 6 and 12 string acoustic guitar, Native American flute

Susan Free (vocals, percussion, flute) is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist from Eastern Kentucky. She brings a strong Southern Gospel musical background to the group, adding the harmonies that make that signature ” Steve Free sound “. Also a published poet, Susan has been with the band since 1999.

Wyatt Bates (drums, percussion) is from Southern Ohio and has been involved with music since junior high scho, performing in everything from school ensembles and orchestras to regional country and rock bands. Wyatt joined the Steve Free Band in 2000 and says “drumming is the foundation and percussion is the flavoring that makes the difference. ”

John Starkey (bass) hails from Warminster, Pennsylvania and has performed with the Steve Free Band off and on since the 1970s when they met serving in The U.S. Air Force. Rejoining Steve as the bass player in 1997, John brings a touch of the East Coast sound to Steve’s unique Folk / Americana / Appalachian sound.
