Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) continues its Wadsworth Public Library concert series with Flutist Janet Becker. Everyone knows what a flute is. Your niece played it in the sixth-grade band, you watched Will Ferrell play it badly in Anchorman and when you go to yoga or get a massage it’s playing calmly in the background. All that is true, but there’s much more to it than that. This program will explore all the facets of the modern flute today, and the many shapes and sizes that the instrument can take.
Dr. Becker will provide a brief look at history by demonstrating Renaissance and Baroque flutes, leading you up to the present day with pieces for modern concert flute, piccolo, alto flute, bass flute and contra-bass flute. From old to new and small to huge, this program will leave you surprised by what you didn’t know about one of the first instruments created, the flute.
This program is free, but reservations are recommended by reserving online or calling 330-722-2541.
