Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) presents Cleveland based musicians (McKenna Glorioso (violin) and Mia Ingram (cello) in a program that will showcase 20th century violin and cello duets.
Among selections from composers such as Ravel and Kodaly, the Duo will give a fresh face to familiar classics, and will include some crowd favorites you may recognize from places other than the classical stage. Sit back and listen as Duo Mercury takes you on a journey throughout 20th century music.
The one hour program takes place at Wadsworth Public Library, 132 Broad Street, Wadsworth on February 10, 2019 at 2pm. Admission is free, but reservations recommended at 330-722-2541, or by visiting www.ormaco.org.
About the Artists
Mia Ingram is a cellist originally from Minneapolis whose career thus far has mainly focused on chamber music. She began studying cello at age nine and soon joined the Greater Twin Cities Youth Orchestra, eventually competing as a runner-up in the orchestra’s concerto competition.
Mia has studied chamber music with members of the Shanghai String Quartet, Brooklyn Rider,
the Artaria String Quartet, and the Arianna String Quartet. During high school she studied with
Mina Fisher and was a member of the award-winning Warner String Quartet, which won several
prizes in the Twin Cities area. Mia has attended many summer chamber music festivals
including, most recently, the fellowship program at Madeline Island Chamber Music in both
2017 and 2018.
Mia recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Cello Performance at McGill University’s
Schulich School of Music under the tutelage of Matt Haimovitz. She was a finalist in the
concerto competition in 2017 and also graduated with a minor in Gender, Sexuality, and
Feminist, and Social Justice Studies. She now resides in Cleveland, Ohio as a freelancer with
local orchestras, as a soloist, and with Duo Mercury.
McKenna Glorioso is currently studying for a Master’s degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music with William Preucil. She completed a Bachelor Degree from McGill University’s Schulich School of Music in 2017 studying with Axel Strauss and Marcelle Mallette. McKenna currently performs with both the Akron and Canton Symphonies as well as Cleveland Pops and the Cleveland Opera Theatre. McKenna spent the summer of 2018 in Breckenridge, Colorado as a
fellow with the National Repertory Orchestra. As an educator, McKenna is registered with the Suzuki Association.
